semi-profound observations on life

photowalking in Indianapolis

I spent last night with a good group of folks walking around downtown Indianapolis photowalking. It’s an informal group formed on Flickr. Although it’s sorta kinda organized around a Flickr group, I tend to think of it more along the lines of just a photowalking group.
The weather was perfect, we started out with an early [...]

pollution isn’t always a bad thing…

…light pollution that is.
It seems like it’s taken no time at all to go from daytime temperatures in the mid-90’s, where the nighttime temperature cools down to the mid-80’s, to full blown fall weather, with the nighttime temperatures dipping into the 40’s. This is actually about my favorite time of year. So with a new [...]

updated photo galleries

It’s been about 9 months since I started this blog, and I’m still at it. Holy shit. I’m still posting on a somewhat regular basis, and it’s slowly evolving into a blog mainly about my developing passion for photography, including shooting infrared, with occasional excursions off that beaten path.
In parallel with the development of this [...]

Buddy Guy

We went to the Rib Fest here in Indianapolis earlier tonight, and watched Buddy Guy tear out an outstanding set. He may sing “Done got old” on his latest album, but he’s still got it. How good was he? He might have converted Misty into a blues fan.

*whew*, an epiphany

“Most of your pictures suck” but then again most of my pictures suck as well. Let it go and get on with shooting.
Good advice from those more experienced than I in the world of photography.

*sniff*

For some reason that I can’t fathom, I don’t have any good photos of beer. Something I’ll have to remedy. This is the closest that I have… sushi and beer by the water in Tampa last spring.
Michael Jackson wrote eloquently about beer, and whiskey. A true connoisseur.

sunflowers

Thank god it’s Friday

Tequila flamed, dry rub barbecue ribs. Proof that carnivores live better than herbivores, and that it’s better to be on the top of the food chain, than somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation

A couple of weeks ago Tammie, her Dad and Misty left on a road trip to Kentucky for a couple of days. Before they got out of town, they encountered a Canada goose that had been hit by a car and left by the side of the road for dead. A couple of phone calls [...]

Donner, party of seven…

We went out to dinner tonight at a local barbecue joint. We’ve been to their sister restaurant on the east side of town a number of times, and the food is good. We’ve been looking forward to going to their new one closer to where we live since it opened a few months ago. Like [...]
