*sniff*

For some reason that I can’t fathom, I don’t have any good photos of beer. Something I’ll have to remedy. This is the closest that I have… sushi and beer by the water in Tampa last spring.
Michael Jackson wrote eloquently about beer, and whiskey. A true connoisseur.

Thank god it’s Friday

Tequila flamed, dry rub barbecue ribs. Proof that carnivores live better than herbivores, and that it’s better to be on the top of the food chain, than somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Infrared LAB color photo gallery

Today’s photo is a shot of the Indiana State Museum in infrared. It’s an example of post-processing false color IR images using LAB colorspace in Photoshop PS2. I’ve got a gallery of shots processed using LAB here. The tutorial describing my workflow is here.

Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation

A couple of weeks ago Tammie, her Dad and Misty left on a road trip to Kentucky for a couple of days. Before they got out of town, they encountered a Canada goose that had been hit by a car and left by the side of the road for dead. A couple of phone calls [...]

custom white balance tutorial

I’ve written up a tutorial on using LAB color space in Adobe Photoshop PS2 for adjusting a custom white balance (WB) with digital IR images. I hope you find it useful, it was a useful exercise for me to write it up.
You can find it here (and in the sidebar).
Enjoy.

Donner, party of seven…

We went out to dinner tonight at a local barbecue joint. We’ve been to their sister restaurant on the east side of town a number of times, and the food is good. We’ve been looking forward to going to their new one closer to where we live since it opened a few months ago. Like [...]

Night glow

It’s been a while since I posted a colorful photo. All this mucking about I’ve been doing sorting out false color post-processing with IR images using LAB has left me starved for some brilliant color photography. Today’s shot (actually last night’s) was taken in the infield at the Indiana State Fair. Each year they kick [...]

Reflections on color processing IR with LAB

Well I think I’ve sorted out a basic workflow for processing false color infrared images using LAB color in Photoshop that gives results that I’m happy with. I’m writing up a tutorial describing the basic steps of what I’m doing. It’s not ready for prime time yet, but it’s been a useful exercise for me [...]

LAB color processing IR

Still making progress with post-processing IR images with color adjustments using LAB color space.
