Crown Hill Cemetery is trying to sell about 70 acres of land along the northern edge of their property. About a quarter of that property is wetlands.

Indianapolis real estate developer Mann Properties has agreed to pay $5.6 million for the land, provided it can obtain rezoning from the Metropolitan Development Commission. Mann wants to build 320 houses and some retail stores on the property.

Considering that urban wooded areas, and especially wetlands are in short supply, do we really need to bulldoze what little we have left to put up even more housing and strip malls?
